Chasma (white), 2024
Hand woven silk, linen and brass
200x300 cm
Chasma is part of the Immersion series of my work. It is a handwoven artwork, with an organic and sculptural shape that gives an impression of slow movement. Traditionally used to convey a narrative story, the triptych composition evokes here the story of our landscapes by material, water sculpting canyons, wind creating dunes, etc. It brings back to mind that the words Text and Textile come from the same Latin word “TEXERE” that means”to weave”.
Chasma is made of linen, silk and brass, materials that are respectively vegetal, animal and mineral. They evoke the reliance of elements that create and tell the story of the Earth.
